Dear Friends,
Technology is catching up with everybody, so this year I decided to use the convenient means of electronic mail to send my yearly newsletter off to you- I am currently travelling and on the road, so I thought this would be the best way to let you know about all that has been going on with me in 2003. Beginning 2003, I had a wonderful time in India soaking up great inspiration. Back in Germany, I found myself confronted with the beginning war in Iraq, which resulted in the creation of a theme-related series of artistic digital prints THE WAR SERIES. In these works, I projected the reality of war into my very own environment, criticizing society and politics to give an impulse for reflecting upon own ideals, morals, fears and associations. http://www.artkatja.com/WarSeries.html Mid-year, I participated in a group exhibition MAIL-ART, at the Kunsthalle Kempten, Germany. In addition to my new digital works and collages, I also focused on abstract mixed media painting. Over the last two years, my works on paper have been dealing with looking behind the scenes and exploring the emotional abyss. In October I showed my latest paintings at the Galerie 71, BMW Work Munich at an exhibition titled CONFRONTATION. Now at the end of the year I am staying in California, always trying to escape the cold german winter. I am having a blast and will surely return to Germany with lots of inspiration for a great artistic year to come. Wherever you are, wishing you a great Christmas time and a happy New Year! May 2004 bring lots of joy and happiness to you all. |
